OTAGO AERO CLUB
APPEAL FOR GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE BY TELEGBAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION Dunedin, April IS. Replying to a deputation which approached him to-night appealing for Government assistance of the Otago Aero Club, the Hon. F. J. Rolleston said that the policy of the Government was to encourage aero clubs, but they had to comply with the conditions laid down, chief among which was 'hat suitable landing places, housing and workshops for machines were available. Christchurch and Auckland had been singled out io receive assistance in the forin of two Moth machines each, because both centres possessed hangars anil the necessary equipment. He held out no hope of being able to extend assistance to the Otago Club this financial year, but promised to give it his favourable consideration. Four new Moth machines were needed at Sockburn, because the machines there at present were just about done—in fact, he doubted if some of them were safe to fly in.
