MAGISTRATE’S COURT

POLICE, SUMMONS AND CIVIL CASES Police and summons cases were dealt with by Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Peter O'Malley, alias Peter James Clarke, alias Swanson, alias Sawyers, alias Marau, a seamn, aged 45, was lined 10s., in default 48 hours' imprisonment, for a second offence of drunkenness. William Brown, a labourer, aged -6, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within twelve months it called upon, on a charge of being a rogue and vagabond. The Magistrate warned accused to keep at his work. A sentence of one month’s imprisonment was imposed on Jack Wilson, alias Henare Paurau, alias Henry James Wilson, a labourer, aged 341, who was charged with stealing lead to the value of 3s. 3d. from the Pletcher Construction Company. The Magistrate remarked that accused had a substantial list of previous convictions. Thomas Ryan was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within twelve months, if called upon, on a charge of being unlawfully in enclosed premises. . A remand to March 30 was granted in the case of Robert Patrick Crawford, -i clerk, aged 20, who was charged with stealing £6, the property of the Government. Chief Detective Ward stated that accused, who was employed by the Immigration Department, had been committed to the Supreme. Court for sentence on Wednesday on two charges of stealing money from registered letters. Bail was allowed in the sum of £. 1 50, with one surety of -£l5O. SUMMONS CASES. John Burke, alias Bourke, alias Harry Porter, was fined £3 and costs in default seven days’ imprisonment for trespassing on a racecourse while a prohibited person. Alan George Christie, Edward Maley, and Victor Horace Robinson were each fined £2 on a charge of wilfully damaging a fence to the extent of 16s. (Id. They were each ordered to pay one-third of the damage. Charges of disorderly behaviour were withdrawn. For failing to cleanse milking machines immediately after use, James Wilfred Mexted was fined £4. On a charge of failing to close their stiops on the day of the butchers’ picnic E.
