OFFER TO HINKLER
FOR FLIGHT ACROSS TASMAN AIRMAN ROYALLY FETED By Telegraph.—press association. Copyright. Sydney, March 13. Sir Benjamin Fuller has offered to finance Captain Hinkler should he care to make a flight across the Tasman Sea. Hinkler has not yet had time to consider the offer. Meanwhile Hinkler is being royally feted at all engagements arranged in his honour. He was tendered a civic reception, at which the City Commissioners presented him with a cheque for £933, collected by the newspaper “Guardian.” A presentation was made by a representative Sydney girl in an aeroplane living above Government House At a gala theatre performance Hinkler was presented with a cheque for £6OO, the first instalment of a collection by the “Evening News.” He leaves for Canberra to-morrow. AIR CROSS AWARDED BY THE KING Rugby, March 12. The Air Ministry has announced that the King has approved the award of the Air Force Cross to Captain Bert Hinkler, in recognition of the distinguished service rendered to aviation by his recent flight in a light ’plane from England to Australia.—British Official Wireless.
