COMPENSATION FOR IRISH LOYALISTS
FURTHER GRANT MADE (Rec. February 25, 7.30 p.m.) London, February 23. The Right Hon. L. S. Amery, in presenting a Supplementary Estimate of £525,000 on account of damage done to the property of ex-servicemen in Ireland, pointed out that the Government had already paid out about eight millions in compensation with respect to injuries suffered before the truce, Ihe total awards of both Governments to Irish before and since the truce amounted to ten millions. The Irish Grants Committee was investigating urgent cases of hardship. It was hoped the necessity for a further grant would not arise, but the subject could be reopened.—A.P.A. and “Sun.”
