ANNUAL PAYMENT
HUTT COUNTY AND UPPER HUTT BOROUGH. A. conference between representatives of the Hutt County Council and the Upper Hutt Borough Council was held (if the Council Chambers, Upper Hutt:, last Saturday. Present were: Air. P. Robertson (Mayor of Upper Hull), Councillors Jamieson and Blewman (Upper Hutt), and Councillors Blackley, Hoggard, and Whiteman, and Air. A. J. AlcPhersou (Hutt County). ■ Tho conference met with the object, of arriving at; an agreement, as to the annual paimenis to be made by the county to the borough, as the county's share of the maintenance of roads and lightnig in respect of the boundary roads between the county and the borough, and to finalise the financial adjustments between the county and the borough. After a careful review of the matter it was decided that the following was an equitable apportionment, of the annual maintenance cost of tlie boundary roads. Alain Road.—Tho county to pay annually to the borough the sum of 4:50 per mile for 115.2 chains. YVallaceville-Alangaroa Road. — The county' to maintain that portion of the road belonging lo the borough situated on tho bill, and the borough to maintain the boundary road between tlie railway line and tlie borough boundary at the foot of the YVallaceville hill road.
Kiln Road.—The county to pay to the borough annually the sum of 4:5 towards the maintenance of this road. Tho annual payment in respect of 115.2 chains of the Main Road to be retrospective to February 1, 1926. In the matter of lighting, the county agreed to contribute annually 50 per cent, of the annual charge in respect of seven lights on the Alain Road.
