OBITUARY

MR. CHARLES SPEIGHT Dominion Special Service. Dunedin, February 19. Tlie death occurred suddenly at Dunedin to-night of Mr. Charles Speight, manager of the Dunedin branch of New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., and a director of that company.

Born in Dunedin in 1865, the late Mr. Speight was one of this city’s bestknown citizens, having spent the whole of his life here. His’parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Speight, arrived in Dunedin in 1861, the father founding in

1876 the brewery business with which the name of Speight has for so many years been connected. For some years the late Mr. Speight was manager of Messrs. Speight and Co., Ltd. He was one of the directors of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition, held in Dunedin recently, and in recognition of the high quality of his work, he was honoured with the decoration of 0.8. E.
