HARMONIC SOCIETY
REVIEW OF YEAR’S WORK. Satisfaction with the result of the year’s work is expressed in the annual report of |he Wellington Harmonic Society. “We have maintained the high standard musically for which our choir has become known in Wellington, and in view of the somewhat hard year which has been experienced, have had a successful season,” states the report. “The financial position is still satisfactory, although tho year has been rather a strenuous one, we being able to show a balance on the right side after adding AT6 worth of music to our library. At tho conclusion of the year, there were fifty-eight active members on the roll, an increase of five over ISIM. I’irty-one practices were hold during the year, and the average attendance was tt2.7. This was a lower average than in 1926, and we would again stress the importance of members making Wednesday Harmonic night, in order that by regular and punctual attendance at rehearsal, we may improve the already high standard of our work. While our active list shows an increase, wo regret to have to report that the list of subscribers shows a falling off, concert returns in consequence showing a decrease, and the need for further subscribers is more urgent than ever.” "The committee conveys best thanks to the conductor, Mr. If. Temple White, for his continued efforts, to which our success is largely due. Thanks are given also to the deputy conductor i’Mr. P. Cui forth), hon. pianist (Mrs. T. A. Coventry), and hon. librarian (Mrs. B. R. Bennett); tn Mr. D. Tavler for his assistance at the Folk music concerts-, and to those who have assisted financially and at the concerts.”
