MAGISTRATE’S COURT

POLICE, BY-LAW AND CIVIL CASES Mr. E. Page, S.M., dealt with police cases in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. Victor Fanning Fraser Kett, alias McCarthy, alias Fraser, alias John McDonald, age 40, and John Joseph Corby, alias McGonville, aged 28, were each fined £2, in default seven days’ imprisonment, for casting offensive matter. They were both convicted and discharged tor drunkenness. Kenneth Martin Beck, a carrier, aged 27, who pleaded guilty to stealing an electric battery, valued at £1 155., the property of the Railway Department, was fined in default one month's imprisonment. Accused, who stole the battery from the Thorndon goods shed, had never previously been before the Court. BY-LAW BREACHES By-law offenders were dealt with by Mr. J. 11. Salmon, S.M. Robert Clive Horsfall was fined i’3 for driving a truck in a dangerous manner. For having defective brakes on his car, Frederick Carr was fined .£l. John Dunlop was fined a like amount for failing to report an accident to the police. , . . „ . , For having their vehicles insufficiently lighted, Clifford Frederick Eskell, Albert Brodie Hall, Robert Wilson Lauchlan, Arthur Reginald Masters, Reginald Charles W. Pearce, and Ernest Kinnon Rabone were each fined 10s.
