Cosgrave’s return to Dublin. Aeroplanes escorted the vessel from fifty miles out, and on arrival at Kingston a salute of nineteen guns was fired Dlr. Cosgrave motored to Dublin, and at the boundary of the city proper was met by an enormous crowd in procession, including several bands, Dlr. Cosgrave’s car being preceded and followed by detachments of cavalry. Thus through the thronged streets, and amidst deafening cheers, he proceeded, with illuminated aeroplanes flying overhead. His arrival in O’Connell Street was signalised by the discharge of rockets, while from Nelson’s Pillar searchlights-swept the city. In a brief speech from a temporary platform every reference made by Dlr. Cosgrave to America was cheered.
