PROSPECT OF RAIN
WITHIN TWO DAYS “Since Saturday an anti-cyclone has advanced across the Tasman Sea to New Zealand, where it moved northwards and increased in intensity, stated an officer of the Meteorological, Department yesterday. “Prior to its passage there was scattered rain over many parts of the South Island and the western pro-, vinces. By this morning, however, fine weather -and high-pressure conditions were again restored. In the meantime a disturbance of considerable intensity and of the rain-bearing type developed over Eastern Australia. This storm is now centred off the centre of the East Coast of the Continent. The barometer lias fallen at Norfolk Island, where showery weather prevails. There is consequently a good prospect of a break in the present dry spell within the next two days Rain is likely to commence shortly in the north, and should extend gradually over the greater part of the Dominion.”
