INFECTIOUS DISEASES
SCARLET FEVER NOT SO PREVALENT Forty-iiine cases of infectious disease were reported to the district health authorities for the week ended at noon yesterday, this being one case more than was notified for the previous seven days. The list shows a big decrease in the notifications of scarlet fever, for whereas 30 cases were reported in .the various hospital districts for the previous week-only 16 appear in the latest bulletin. The figures for the districts are given below, totals for the preceding week being in parentheses:— Wanganui-Horowhenua: Scarlet C (4) ; diphtheria, 2 (0) ; enteric fever, 1 (0) ; tuberculosis, 5 (0) ; erysipelas, 2 (0) : pneumonia, 1 (4) ; fulminant-influ-enza, 1 (1). Total, 18 (9). Wairarapa-East Cape-; Scarlet fever, » (12); diphtheria, 2 (I); tuberculosis, 7 (3: pneumonia, 3 (1); pneumonic influenza, 0 (1) ; erysipelas,_ 0 (1) ; entertic fever, 0 (3) ; poliomyelitis, 0 (1). I’otal, 15 (22). , x Central Wellington: Scarlet fever, b (12) • diphtheria, 0 (1) ; tuberculosis, 6 (0) : erysipelas, 1 (0); pneumonia, 1 (0); puerperal fever, 1 (0) ; poliomyelitis, 0 (2).
