TOWN AND COUNTRY Mrs. Hunter Will and family (Palmerston North) have returned from' Turakina, where they were the guests of Mrs. Campbell Nicholls. Mrs. C. Matthews (Gisborne) is spending a holiday in Wellington and Nelson. Miss M. McLean, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. P. A. McHardy, Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. Garling and Misses Garling, of Sydney, are visitors to Wanganui. Mrs. and Miss Pryor have returned to Tauranga after a holiday at Marton. Mrs. H. N. Watson and Miss Watson are Palmerston North visitors to Wellington. Miss Watson will leave by the Tainui en route to England. Miss Carrick has left Hastings to spend a holiday touring the South Island. Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Drawbridge have returned to Wellington after a holiday at Palmerston North as the guests of Major and Mrs. John Mounsey. Miss M. Craig, of Wanganui, is the guest of Mrs. R. B. Gibbous, Kliandallali. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Strang have left for New Plymouth after a holiday in Palmerston North. Major and Mrs. L. Potter, who have recently arrived from India, have taken up their residence in Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. Appletree, Mrs. and Miss Cunich, and Miss Collins, are Sydney visitors to Wanganui. Colonel and Mrs. E. J. Smith have returned south after a visit to Auckland. Miss Speechley (Palmerston North) is a visitor to Wellington. A very enjoyable time was spent on Saturday evening, when a surprise party was arranged by Misses McHardy and taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knight, Langston Avenue, Palmerston North. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. T. Clayton, Mr. and Mrs. S. Goldinghame, Misses N. Lvons, B. Loucrhnan, O. Haggitt, L. McDonald, E. Earnshaw (Sydney), M. Sim, R. Putnam, F. Monrad, M. Guy, Captain F. Gibbons, Messrs. K. Guy, G. Fox, F. Girton, N. Manning, L. Stowe, R. Goldingham, C. Moore, H Moore, I. Johnston, D. King, F. McHardy, and Professor Peren. Mrs. McLean, wife of the late Archdeacon McLean, is making a short visit to Grevtown, as the guest of Mrs. W. Bey. Archdeacon McLean was vicar of Greytown some years ago. MADAME MKNERE’S TOUR.
