A Urc.tane farmer had an unpleasant experience when shifting several hives of bees the other day (says the Waimate “Advertiser”). lie was transporting the bees in a cart, when, as the result of a jolt, the bees were released and swarmed out, settling on the head and shoulders of the driver and oil the hindquarters of the horse. The horse immediately registered a protest by means of his heels, and the driver has tened to release him from the cart. Working under great difficulties the traces were unhitched, nnd the horse made haste to (mt distance between himself and the scene of the mishap It is stated that a badly swollen face remains as a memento of the occasion as far as the bee-keeper is concerned, while the horse has not suffered to any great extent.
