London, January 25
The Protestant Alliance and League cf Loyal Churchmen passed a resolution that the amended Prayer Book is essentially the same as before, as it- restores the Mass and enables the adoration of the reserved Sacrament. The resolution appeals to Parliament to reject the measure and also to pass a Bill to compel the bishops to do their duty or resign. Saying that he felt younger than twenty years ago, the Bishop of London, on the eve of his seventieth birthday, attributed his health and youth to teetotalisni, non-smoking, and regular exercise. He had not seen a doctor for five years. Pointing out that be was chiefly interested in East End problems, he said that there was not the same grinding poverty as formerly, but he was terribly disturbed by the affects of unemployment on the youth, whom the dole was demoralising. He was therefore anxious to secure them a man’s life in the oversea Empire. He hoped that Parliament would pass the Prayer Book. Scotland and America had practised the reservation, which had not done harm.
