MURDER OF MARION PARKER
TRIAL OF HICKMAN By Telegraph.—press association. Copyright Los Angeles, January 25. Thousands endeavoured to gain admission at the opening of the trial of Edward Hickman on the charge of the murder of Marion Parker. Hickman, haggard and cringing, pleaded insanity. Hi's counsel objected to the trial Judge on the grounds of prejudice, after which the Judge went into recess Court for the purpose of deciding whether to continue the trial. (Rec. January 26, 8.55 p.m.) New York, January 25. When the Hickman case came on today huge crowds gathered at the Hall of'justice and threatened the accused man and his counsel. After the Judge had announced that he would assign the case to another Court in an effort to satisfy those who charged him with being prejudiced, the police took additional precautions to guard Hickman against lynching.
