POLICE CASES Mr. E. Page, S.M., dealt with the police cases in the Magistrates Court yesterday. For deserting from the s.s. Kersten Miles, which vessel has now left New Zealand, Vogel was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment with hard labour. Cyril Eugene Walsh, a motor-driver, aged 28, who desired to go before a jury instead of being dealt with summarily on a charge of stealing a wallet containing £l5, the property of George Ernest Beveridge, pleaded not guilty and was committed to the. Supreme Court for trial.
