MORE IMMIGRANTS
ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND Dominion Special Service. Auckland, January 24. Immigrants who arrived by the Arawa from Liverpool this morning, were early astir to get. their firstglimpse of thb land of their adoption. The new arrivals number 137, ana only 39 intend ,to remain m Auckland. Wellington will absorb 38, Lyttelton 17, Dunedin 12, Wanganui 14, Napier, Nelson, and Greymouth four each, the Bluff and New Ply* mouth two each and Gisborne one. The immigrants are of good type. There is a good proportion of Scottish and Welsh people amongst them. Ten young women have come out on, engagement as teachers on three years’ contracts, foi the most part with private schools, while two have come from the Chelsea College of Physical Culture. One of these, Miss G. Loney, will take up a position as instructress at the St. Margarets College in Christchurch, while the other, Miss B. Holmes, will take up a similar appointment with the Wellington Diocesan School at Marton. Eight daughters of British seamen, whose ages range from 14 to 17, are going to Flock House for training, while 26 domestics have positions to go to.
