MOTORISTS TO PROTEST A public meeting in protest against the decision of the Government to proceed with the erection of a central pier in the Hutt Road for the new railway overbridge is to. be called at an early date bv rhe Wellington Automobile Club. The committee of the club a a special meeting held yesterday expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Prime Miniser’s decision in the matter, and on the motion of Mr. H. W. Shortt, seconded by Mr. A. L- Warburon, it was decided to arrange for a public protest and to take steps to secure as a represenaive a group of speakers as possible. Two additional motorists’ representatives have to be appointed to the Wellingon Ciy and Suburban Highways Board under he amending legislation of las tyear, and the Wellington Automobile Club at a meeting yesterday decided to nominate Messrs. H. J. Stott and A. J. Curtis for these positions. Mr. Curtis has also been nominaed by the Wellington Master Carriers’ Association.
