SERIOUS CHARGES OF MALFEASANCE
AGAINST A WOMAN WHILE IN OFFICE '(Rec. January 23, 8.35 p.m.)' New York, January 22. It is reported from Albany, the State capital, that the most serious charges of malfeasance while in office made against a woman' since the power to hold office has been granted to women in America, has been lodged against Mrs. Florence Knapp, dean of the College of . Home Economics at Syracuse University, and ex-secretary of the State of New York. The Commissioner investigating the charges recommends a criminal prosecution, alleging the illegal disbursement of 118,000 dollars, and the waste of nearly 80,000 dollars in her administration of census funds. The charges include nepotism and the giving away of State funds, which ultimately were traced back as in her possession.
