OBITUARY
MRS JOHN BOLLARD Dominion Special Service. Auckland, January 20. Mrs. John Bollard, wife of the late Mr. John Bollard, who was a member of Parliament, died to-day, aged 87 J Born in Ireland in 1840, Mrs. Bollard came to New Zealand to join her parents. She married the late John Bollard, M.P., in 1861, at Tamaki, and then settled in Avondale in the house in which her death occurred. The whole of her life was spent in this house, and it was here too that eleven of her fourteen children were reared, eight Rf whom are now living. Her last public function was in 1906, when, in company with her son, the late Hon. R F Bolla rd. she decorated the winner of the Derbv. Following the success of her husband as member for Eden, when that was a very large electorate, her son commenced a brilliant political career as member for Raglan, which later led to his appointment as Minister of the Crown. Hobart, January 20. The death is announced of Dr. Edgar Ravenswood Waite, formerly curator of the Canterbury Museum, Christchurch, aged 62. [Dr. Waite was, from 1906 to 1914, curator of the Canterbury Museum at Christchurch, a position from which he retired to take over the curatorship of the National Museum at Adelaide. He retired from office a couple of years ago, and had since lived in retirement at Hobart. Dr. Waite was 62 years old at the time of his death. He was born at Leeds and educated at Victoria University (England), becoming curator of Leeds Museum in 1888, becoming a member of the Leeds Naturalists’ Club, Leeds Geological Association, and Couchological Society of Great Britain,
