MOTOR-CYCLE JOY-RIDING

ENDS IN COURT PROCEEDINGS. A youth whose name was ordered Io be suppressed appeared before Mr. U. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with converting a motor-cycle to his own use. A plea of guilty was entered. Detective-Sergeant Holmes stated that accused, xvho is 17 years of age, took the cycle from a neighbouring house and, together with another boy.rode round to Day’s Bay and back to town, finally depositing ths machine in Ghuznee Street. Mr. W. E. Leicester, who appeared for accused, stated that he did not drive the cycle all the time, but rode most of the way on the pillion. "When accused and the other boy came back to town they went up to Kelhurn, where they ran out of petrol. The cycle was driven downhill and left in Ghuznee Street. No damage was done to it. Accused was admitted to probation for a period of 12 months.
