There has been a serious development at the hydro-electric works at Horahora owing to pumice coming down the Waikato River, going through the screens, and lodging’in the turbine gates. lhe power may have to be cut off temporarily at any time, and if such drastic action is necessary it is intended to cut oil from 10 o’clock to-night till 3 a.m. to-morrow. In Hint event a wide area will lx) aflected. but some of tin? districts concerned possess standby plants. Ke lief may also come from Auckland.
