The hot weather recently has been responsible for the crops in North Otago rapidly filling in the ear and ripening (states the "Times”). Algerian oats are alfriost ready for cutting, one excellent crop at Kakanui being already harvested, while in a few days’ time, the reaper should be at work in several naddocks. The wheat crops generally give promise ol a bountiful vield. An old resident of the district, in conversation with a “Times” representative, remarked that he had never in his lifetime seen the country looking so well as feed was exceptionally plentiful.
