SPLIT IN SOVIET RANKS
TROTSKY, ZINOVIEFF, AND KAMENEFF’S PLANS TO ESTABLISH OPPOSITION COMMITTEES TESTING THE PEOPLE’S FEELING Bi Telegraph.—press Association. Copyright. (Rec. November 13, 5.5 p.m.) Riga, November 12, While the Stalinists are busily clamouring for the expulsion of Trotsky, Zinovieff and KamenefT, the trio are feverishly pushing on plans to establish opposition central and provincial government committees. Their street propaganda and meetings are regarded as testing the people’s feeling, just as the 'Leninites did prior to the overthrow of Kerensky. COMPROMISING DOCUMENTS A CHECK TO STALIN Moscow, November 11. Newspapers publish a resolution from the Central Committee of the All-Rus-sian Union of the Communist Party insisting upon the necessity for expelling Trotsky, Zinovieff, Kameneff, and other Oppositionists from the party. The resolution alludes to past scenes, and says that they show that Trotsky is attempting to rally the non-proletarian forces. ■ A document prepared by Trotsky, forbidden publication in Russia, but now being published in Berlin, confirms that the situ- io.i of the workers is growing worse, with long hours and low pay. The unemployed number two millions. It is indicated that one of the reasons why Stalin refrains from rigorous measures of repression is that the Oppositionists are in the possession of documents compromising officials, and, secondly, that the Oppositionists art growing in strength within the army.
