The Napier Foreshore Bill was introduced into the House of Representatives 'by Dlr.’ J. Mason (Napier) yesterday.

The object of the legislation is to enable the Napier Harbour Board to lease to the Napier Borough Council part of the Napier foreshore now vested in the board, and to enable the council to improve it (or recreation purposes. The corporation, it is proposed, will have authority to construct playing grounds and devices for amusement, etc., and to enclose the. area and charge for admission to it. The council is to have further power to grant persons, societies, or companies the exclusive use of the land,. with the right to charge for admission. The Bill was read a first time and referred to the Local Bills Committee.
