HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL

WORK ON THE RIDINGS. The Hutt County Council met last night, tha chairman (Mr. S. Blackley) presiding. In his monthly report of activities in tho various ridings, the engineer (Mr. A. H. Benham) stated that if the weather remained favourable it was his intention to immediatelv seal the portion of the main east road controlled bv the council which had been nrepared in the Taita Gorge. During wet weather he intended to continue preparation work and, given suitable weather, the ensuing month should, see this work completed. Reconditioned portions of the. main west read had been graded when weather was suitable. It was anticipated that the kerbing in Paremata township would be completed within a few davs. During the ensuing week bridge work throughout the Wainui-o-Mata riding would be finished. A start had been made with a small pang in connection with the Wainui hill relief works. The work of levelling the Paekakariki domain by relief labour was proceeding satisfactorily.
