AUSTRALIA’S LAND DEFENCE
INSUFFICIENT PROVISION MADE
(Rec. October 14, 10.35 p.m.) Canberra, October 14
The annual report of the InspectorGeneral of the Defence Forces,'tabled in the House of Representatives,_ expresses regret that sufficient provision has not been made for the natural and reasonable development of the Commonwealth’s land defence. The report continues : “The military organisation is confronted with ever-increasing cost, making larger appropriations necessary, but instead of these being provided the Department has been confronted with progressive annual reductions, and its activities have consequently been restricted to less than bare essentials.”
