The custodian of Mount Egmont northern house states that he frequently sees hares as far up tho mountain sides as Humphries’ Castlo (reports the ‘laranaki News”). The bush is also full of them, ami at Hollv Flat, on the way to the Kahui house, they are very numerous. In th® winter they, seemingly make for the mountain, notwithstanding the cold and rain, returning to the plains in the warmer weather.
