ROSE DAY APPEAL
MEETING ON WORKERS. A meeting of ladies who are work ing for the Rose Day appeal was held at the Returned Soldiers’ Club last night. Major Hall presided, and progress was reported by the various workers. The proceeds of the effort are to go half towards the R.S.A. provident fund, and the rest to the Soldiers’ Memorial Cemetery and other work. The various stalls were allocated as far as possible, and the following were placed Quinton’s corner, Mrs. Bramley and Mrs. Keddell; Mee’s steps, Soldiers’ Hostel Committee (under Mrs. Moore) ; Lindsay’s orner, Mrs. Parnell and Mrs. Shute; Kirkcaldie and Stains, St. John \mbulance; G.P.0., Mrs. Murphy, Mrs. McKenzie, and Mrs. Anslow; Stewart Dawson’s, Seatoun branch W.N.R. and helpers; Boulcott Street, girls’ branch W.N.R. (under Mrs. Beales and Mrs. Hargreaves) ; Bank of New Zealand, Cuba Street, Mrs. Eliott and Mrs. Thomason ; Veitch and Alien’s, Lyceum Club, Mrs. Andersen, and Miss Black; Courtenay Place, Mrs. Gallaher and Mrs Cameron; Maritime Building and Kelburn, Mrs. Carroll, Mrs. Rown tree, and helpers. A flower stall will be in charge of the Mayoress and members of the graves committee, W.N.R., and the R.S.A. at the Hutt will organise there. It was decided to ask Miss Hyde to again organise Brooklyn, and Mrs Rudkin Lyall Bay. Armistice Day (November 11) is the day of the sale, and the Indies are working hard to make enough roses to sell on the occasion.
