LACK OF RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION

f INCREASING DANGER OF COMMUNISM (Rec. October 11, 5.5 p.m.) London, October 11. Of six million English and Welsh school children, one quarter are not receiving religious instruction, except what might be given in dav schools and homes, said Mr. J. C. Meggitt in his presidential address at the Congregational Union’s Assembly. Half the school children did not possess a Bible. If increasing numbers were left thus uninstructed in matters relating to religion the danger of Communism would be increased. A further alarming factor was the disregard of Sunday as a dav of worship, owing to motoring and rail excursions, games and concerts. Mr. Meggitt deprecated the Labourites’ introduction of Sunday political meetings.—Sydney “Sun” Cable.
