NEW ZEALAND FARMERS’ UNION

PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE.

Marton, October 11

The monthly meeting of the Wellington Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held yesterday, Mr. K. W. Dalrymple presiding.

It was decided to ask the Dominion secretary to bring before the notice of the Hon. L. S. Amery (Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs) during his coming visit to the Dominion, the fact that considerable quantities of produce not from New Zealand were being sold in England under the Dominion’s name. The work which was being done among the boys and girls’ agricultural clubs was eulogised, and it was decided to vote £5 ss. towards the cost of the scheme.

The Government’s action in bringing down a Plants Bill this session was endorsed.

The action of Mr. Hammond in supporting the resolution carried at Hie Dominion conference favouring political action if the state of affairs in regard to the primary producer did not improve, was endorsed.
