PRESERVING INDUSTRIAL PEACE

AMENDING ARBITRATION ACT

OBJECTED TO.

By Telegraph.— l’liF.ss association Dunedin, October 10. A meeting of the Pressers’ and Cutters’ Union to-night passed the following resolution dealing with the Government’s proposed amendments to the Industrial, Conciliation, and Arbitration Act. “This union enters an emphatic protest against the avowed intention of the Government to amend the Industrial, Conciliation, and. Arbitration Act without first consulting the trade unions in the matter. Tn the opinion of this union the Industrial, Conciliation and Arbitration Act with the Court as at present constituted has been a potent factor in maintaining industrial peace, therefore it would be a grave mistake to create industrial strife at the instance of the Farmers’ Union, Employers’ Association, or Chamber of Commerce resolutions.”
