The rifle meeting was continued in fine weather, but a tricky mirage and a puffy wind made the conditions difficult. The New Zealanders over the weeknd fired a friendly match over 300, 600, 700 and 900 yards against the • West Australian team, which finished second in the last Commonwealth match. The Dominion performed excellently, to be. beaten by only 15 points, the scores being: West Australia, 1724; New Zealand, 1709. H. Boon headed the New Zealand scores with an aggregate of 121. Captain Afasefield registered the only possible of the day. In to-day’s shooting The Piazza (300 yards) was won by S. A. Gentle (Aludgee). The New Zealanders, W. J. Green, F. Sharland, W. H. Ballinger and W. N. Masefield won £1 each. The La Alaitre (600 yards) was won by D. Leitch (West Australia), the New Zealanders to win £1 each being W. J. Green. W. H. Ballinger, F. Higgs and J. Heney. The Dangar Match (700 yards) was won by A. Blatch (New South Wales), with H. Boon (Karori) second, the latter winning a£6 prize. The following New Zealanders won £1 each : E. E. Vennell. \V. Green, J. Turnbull, W. N. Alasefiold, and E. Ballinger. GREEN’S EXCELLENT SHOOTING * Sydney, October 11. At the rifle meeting, the New Zealander IV. Green made an excellent start in the "A” series of matches, where he is jointly leading with Victorians in the Longfield Aggrcgae, the second most important event of the meeting. In the Paine Aggregate, comprising scores in the Piazza, Le Alaitre and Dangar matches. Grant (Victoria) was first, Green (New Zealand) second), and Davies (Victoria) third, all 142. Green won £4. NEW ZEALAND WINNERS OF PRIZE MONEY (Bee. October 11, 11.45 p.m.) Sydney, October 11. The Sydney rifle meeting was continued in perfect weather conditions. The New Zealander Green performed excellently in the Longfields Aggregate, the second most important event of the meeting. Although official results will not be known until to-morrow it is practically certain that he finished second to F. Agate, of Sydney. Green s score was 279, Other Now Zealanders scores were: Masefield 268, Carter 266, E. A. Ballinger 266. . The New Zealanders to win £1 each in the Paine Aggregate were Vennel, Turnbull, Masefield and W. H. Ballin£T6r« In The Motton event (460 yards), C. Williamson, Sydney, and T. Rayner, Hellensburgh, tied and divided first and second prize money. The New Zealanders to win £1 each were Carter, Robertson, Powell, Goodall, Higgs and E. A. Ballinger. The Jamieson Match (,00 yards) was won bv Richards, Queensland. The New Zealanders who won £1 each were Goodall, AV. H. Ballinger, Green, Masefield and E. A. Ballinger.

UPPER HUTT CLUB. The members of the Upper Hutt Rifle Club opened their season’s shooting with a match at ranges 3UO and 500 yards between teams picked by the president ana deputv-president, which resulted in a win for the president’s team by 13 points. The weather conditions were good, with a steady wind blowing from up the valley, and some good scores were registered. Th© following are the detailed scores:— President’s Team.—C. Whiteman, 43-47— 90: F Whiteman, 47—42-89; A. Scott, 45—41—86; N. Kitchen, 40—46—86; President Ridgway, 34—43 —77; J. O’Riley, 37—41 78; Y. Sing, total, 571. Deputy-President's Team.—F. Monk, 46— 44—90; Dep.-President Whiteman, 40 —47— 87; B. Dunn, 39^-36 —85; G. Coker, 42—41 —83: B. Braid; 37—44-81; J. Johnson, 32—36—68; 11. Webb, 30—34—64; total. 558.
