RADIO PROGRAMMES
Sir, —Permit me to endorse the sentiments expressed by your correspondent in to-day’s Dominion relating to the monotony of tile weekly radio programmes. broadcasted from Wellington and other New Zealand stations. One must become bored when night after night the entire musical programme consists of ballads expatiating upon the respective virtues of moonlight, souls, roses, love, and the like. I do not suggest that such items should entirely give place to ragtime and jazz music,'though a little of this type could be introduced with advantage. Surely some musical comedy, light opera, and humorous pieces could be induced .to give the programme a semblance of brightness that at present it sadly lacks. I know’ of many former enthusiastic listeners-in whose enthusiasm has been considerably dampened by the dull uniformity of the concerts submitted. Trusting that those responsible will give some consideration to many like mvself,—l am, etc., FED UP. Wellington, October 10.
