The Feng Tienese are advancing, harrying the rear of the retreating army. MISSION HOSPITAL RAIDED Hong-Kong, October 9. A naval wireless message from Swatow reports that Chinese soldiers forced an entrance into the English Presby terian Mission Hospital, gagged the Chinese assistants, and threatened officials with revolvers, declaring that in the future they must receive instructions concerning the management from the military authorities. The doctor managed to get a message to a British warship, which immediately sent a platoon of armed naval ratings, which is guarding the hospital. The British Consul notified the Chinese authorities that the guard would not- be removed until he had assurance of no further molestation. The situation is considered serious.
