Mr. L. B. Beale, British Trade Commissioner .in New Zealand, lias signified his intention of being present at the Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society’s Spring Show. The Wanganui Presbytery lias unanimously decided to nominate the Rev. D. Mclvor, of Marton, for the Moderatorship of the General Assembly. Mr. A. N. Smith, of Wanganui, was a recent visitor to Auckland.

Mr. S. J. O’Keefe, of.the Hastings railway clerical staff, is in Dannevirke on relief duty.

Mr. J. J. Wakefield, of Napier, is at present staying in Wanganui. The Rev. Dr. Gibb, of Wellington, will visit Levin shortly, when he will deliver an address on the League of Nations under the auspices of the W.E.A. Mr. C. Aitchison, of Palmerston North, who has been visiting Sydney, is expected to return to Palmerston in a day or two. • Mr. J. Thompson, of Manurewa, whose death occurred last mouth, was an old resident of New Zealand, landing in Otago in 1879. From there he left for the West Coast, working in the. Gray Valley collieries as surface foreman and foreman mechanic. In 1897 he came to the North Island, and took up farming iu the M'anawatu district. There he remained for 21 years, later going to live in the Auckland district. For some time he was chairman of the Hituatangi School Committee, and a director of the Glen Oroua Dairy Company. Besides, a widow, he leaves a grown-up family, of three sons and several daughters. Mr. R. Grant, of Wairoa, is a visitor to Napier. Mr. H, H. Donald is due to arrive in Masterton to-day from Sydney, and with Mrs. Donald and family will leave later to make their home in Sydney. The Hou. A. D. McLeod, Minister of Lands; spent the week-end in Martinborough. Mr. G. M. Moffitt, who has represented the Wairarapa Meat Company in the Martinborough district for some time past, has accepted a similar position with the Longwood Freezing Works, and will leave at an early date to take up bis new position. Mr Moffitt will be a loss to the district, as he has been an enthusiastic supporter of rugby, golf, and bowls. At his residence, Spur Road, Makino, on Sunday night, the death occurred of Walter Hanan Brewster. The late Mr. Brewster, who liad been seriously ill for some time, showed signs of recovery recently, but passed quietly away in liis sleep. Deceased had been a resident of Feilding for many years, and he had earned the respect and friendship of many other residents of the district. For a number of years he was a member of the Oroua County- Council, serving on that body until the time of his death. Deceased is survived by two sons, having been predeceased by his wife two years ago. Mr. F. \V. Bevin, who for nearly three years has been manager of the Pahiatua branch of the Bank of New Zealand, has received notice of his promotion to the managership of the branch of the bank at Te Awamutu. Mr. Beviu’s position at Pahiatua will be filled by Mr. D. O. Plowden, who is at present the accountant at the Marton branch.

Mr, E. C. Robson, of the staff of the Customs Department, Wellington, who has been visiting his relations in Hastings on sick leave, has returned to Wellington. Mr. W. Pellow, of Waipawa, has been visiting Wanganui. Mr. A. H. Miles is a Wellington visitor to Wanganui. Mr. V. Lane, of Wairoa, is on a holiday visit to Napier. Mr. J. Harvey, of Wellington, who has been visiting Napier, is now in Wairoa. Mr. 11. Symes, of Wellington, was a recent visitor to Napier. Mr. J. V. Curtis, of Wellington, was a recent visitor to Wanganui.
