HOMING PIGEONS
The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society held its weekly race last .Saturday from Frankton Junction, a distance of’ 169 miles air line. There were 20 lofts, with 153 birds competing- The weather was fine, with a light southerly breeze against the birds. They came in low and at big intervals. Some showed signs that they had been sho.. at. and this probably accounts /or ■*. large number of birds being missing. Homing pigeons are protected, and it is the intention of clubs to prosecute anyone caught destroying them. The results are as follow: Air. H. Alurphy’s black ch. Phillips 8.C.H., 496: time. Ihr. 56min. 44scc.. 4. Tim race to-morrow will be from Frankton Junction.
