Loud in their praise of t,ie natural beauties and attractions of New Zealand,_ a family party comprising Mr. Archibald Newbury, baritone, his wife, Madam Phyllis Newbury, the wellknown dramatic contralto, and daughter, Marie Newbury, have just completed a three years’ tour of the Dominion (states the Dunedin “Star”). At present in Dunedin, Mr. and Mrs. Newbury and their daughter will shortly leave for their home in Australia. Through both the North Island and the South Island their tour, covering many thousands of miles, has been made entirely by motor car, not only on the main roads, but well off the beaten track. Every town and place of interest in both islands was visited, mountain, stream, and river being passed in the course of the journey. The visitors were enraptured with the wonderful and interesting sights they saw, and all through had a highly enjoyable time. Of the scenic attractions they speak in glowing terms. The long journeys over thousands of miles of roads were safely undertaken, the driver of the car all. the way being Miss Newbury, who undertook a strenuous task for a young lady in a thoroughly capable way. A skilful and steady driver was needed on such a long and arduous trip, but, though the roads were difficult in many places, Miss Newbury never failed. On manv occasions she had to carry out repairs far from anv town. Dlr. Newbury, who belongs to Dunedin, is a brother of the famous tenor, Dlr. Philip Newbury.
