Mr H. T. White was a passenger on the Limited last night-for Cambridge, where Mr White will adjudicate at the competitions starting to-morrow. On his retirement on superannuation from the Government Life Insurance Department after over 41 years’ service on Friday last, Mr. G. A. Noble-Camp-bell, who held the position of chief clerk, received from the combined staffs of the head office and the local branches an oak writing table, a leather travelling case, and platewarc. In making the presentation, the Commissioner (Mr. A. E. Allison) referred to Mr. NobleCampbell’s long connection with the Department, and the loyal service he had rendered. At last week’s meeting of the Main Highways Board a resolution was passed expressing sympathy with the widow and family of the late Mr P. S. Waldie, who was associated with the board for three years prior to his death.
