MISSING MAIL BAG

MAN ARRESTED ON THEFT

CHARGE

Auckland, October 2.

Harold William Melville Taylor, was arrested at Hamilton and charged with the theft of a mailbag containing letters and parcels which disappeared at Frankton Junction on September 3. The bag was being conveyed from Auckland to Hamilton, and when the 'main line train arrived at Frankton Junction it was placed on the platform lor a few minutes to await removal to Hamilton. It was not-seen again. The bag contained postal packets and letters, a large number of which were registered and contained cheques, the total value of which ran into several thousand pounds. One cheque was for £lO, and was subsequently cashed at a shop in Queen Street, Auckland Taylor is a man of about 35 years of age in the employ of a land agent at Hamilton. It is understood that neither the bag nor its contents have been recovered. Taylor has been in Hamilton several years. He was formerly a resident of the Te Aroha district. Taylor will appear in Court on Monday.
