FIRST PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP fßoc. October 2, 5.5 p.m.} London, October 1. The Queensland nineteeu-year-old player, 11. Maskell, a former ball boy in Queensland, won the first professional lawn tennis championship, open to the world, surprisingly defeating in the final Charles Head, of Queen’s, hitherto regarded as Britain’s best professional, 6—3, 6—3, 6—4.
