Here are some beautiful specimens of the horticulturist’s art exhibited at the Lower Hutt show yesterday. The centre bloom of the three specimens shown at right is a Lady Superior, adjudged champion bloom of the show; the group of three were also prize-winners. They were grown by Mr. Gibson, of Manaia. The bloom shown at left was raised by the Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes, at Christchurch from a seedling. It has been classified in the meantime as “3XA,” and is in the show for exhibition purposes only. Some judges were of the opinion that this bloom compared favourably with the champion bloom. The report on the show appears on page 16. —E. Robson, photo.
