CHATHAM CUP FINAL PLAYERS SUSPENDED The council of the New Zealand Football Association met last night, Mr. A. Varney presiding. It was decided to play the final of the Chatham Cup competition between Ponsonby aud Northern (Otago) ou Newtowu Park, Wellington, on September 24. The appeal of the Petone Club against the decision of the Wellington Bootball Association upon being penalised for non-payment of affiliation fees on one date was dismissed, the protest fee to be returned. Suspension for Life. Three suspensions were reported by the Wanganui Association for confirmation. One man bad been suspended until the end of the season for leaving the field without notifying the referee. Another player, following the award of a penalty kick for a foul, used abusive language to the referee, and when suspended for the rest of the season and the first four Saturdays next season was also verv insulting to the committee. He wis then suspended until he apologises to the committee, and upon his doing so the original suspension will stand.
These suspensions were confirmed. The third case was that of a player walking off the field in' disgust without reference to the referee, using foul language in the bearing of the spectators, including several ladies, aud ou arriving in the dressing shed continued to use foul language iu the presence of schoolboys. As the player concerned had been suspended on previous occasions for bad conduct, the Management Committee had decided that the player be suspended for life.
Schoolboys’ Return Visjt. Messrs E. Holmes end F. E. Page, joint managers of the Australian schoolboy team, wrote inviting the New Zealand Council to send a New Zealand schoolboy team about next August, and submitted a tentative itinerary. _ The letter was referred to the Competitions Committee. A letter was received from the Australian Football Association inviting the New Zealand Association to submit for careful consideration by the Australian Football Association a definite reciprocal provosal for the coming year. It was stated that the New South Wales Association has decided to recommend that negotiations be entered into with New Zealand and South Africa, preferably New Zealand, for sending a team on tour. The letter was referred to the Tours Committee for concrete proposals to bs submitted.
