WORK BETTER THAN DOLE
WEST HAM COMMISSION REDUCING RATES London, September 10. “We have made work more profitable than living on a dole,” says Sir Alfred Woodgate, chairman of the West Ham Commission. “We are reducing the rates Id. in the £ in the next six months, totalling a reduction of Bd. since we took over control, reducing in six months outdoor relief bv half a million. We have arranged to pay the debt of £2,275,000 by yearly instalments of £302,000.”
