If there were in excess of population in the towns and a deficiency in the country they should expect to find those who remained in the country ex tremely well off, while the town people would be rather depressed Hut farm ers complained that they were being ruined, while the town folk were pros perous. It was an interesting fact that the countries where a surplus of la hour existed in the rural districts there was invariably' a shortage of foodstuffs. —“Timaru Post.”-
