OFFER BY MR. STRAND Instructed by the Mayor (Mr. G. A. Troup), the' town clerk (Mr. E. Norman) yesterday forwarded to Tub Dominion a copy of a letter sent to the city solicitor (Mr. O’Shea) by Mr. W. T. Strand, under date March 21 last, with an intimation that Mr. Strand had agreed to its publication. The letter was as under: — Lower Hutt, March 21, 19'27. Mr. O’Shea, City Solicitor, Wellington. Dear Sir,—As lam the owner of some small portion of the land which it is suggested should be taken for forest and water, conservation purposes for Wellington and . the adjacent districts, 1 make the following offer:— Whatever land of mine that it is advisable or necessary to take shall be taken, and paid for at whatever price the officers of the Valuation or Public Works Department may put upon it, and for this purpose I will not seek to have a representative. Mv reason for this offer is.that such a desirable and necessary scheme should in no wise be jeopardised because 1 happen to have had for many rears a small interest in that district. 1 do not desire this offer to be made public, but to be acted upon if and when desired by von. —Yours faithfullv, / (Signed' W. T. STRAND.
