SHIELD TOURNAMENT TROUBLE. Following upon tho withdrawal of the Wellington hockey team from the shield tournament to be held at Auckland next week, tho Canterbury Association has notified the local association that to obviate the necessity of their withdrawal also, they have included junior players in their team, and has requested the local association to endeavour to do likewise. A hurried canvass of lower grade players is to be made this morning, and any who can make the trip are advised to get in immediate touch with their club officers, as the association will decide early in the afternoon whether it can reconsider its former decision to withdraw the team.
