A JUSTICES’ SOCIAL
PRESENTATION TO MR. I. SALEK. A large number of Wellington Justices of the Peace with their wives and friends, attended the first mixed social gathering of the Wellington branch of the Justices' Asociation. held last night. Amongst those present were the Mayor (Mr; G. A. Troup) and Mrs. Troup. Mr. F. G. Cray, who presided, said that the evening was really being held in honour of Mr. I. Salek, registrar of the Wellington Association, who was also registrar of the federation of New Zealand. Mr. Salek, who was the outstanding J.P. in Wellington had done such splenifid work that the Justices 'thought the time had arrived to make him a presentation. Mr. Cray then asked the Mayor to present Mr. Salek with a beautiful grandfather’s clock, which His Worship did, amidst applause. In thinking those present for their Softness, Mr. Salek,’ who received an ovation, said it was one of the proudest and happiest moments of his life. He then made a short speech dealing with the work of the asociation and the J.P.'s in general. During the evening, which was a very sucessfnl >ne, a number of musical items were rendered by leading artists.
