POLICE AND CIVIL CASES Mr. E. Page, S.M., dealt with police cases iu tlia Magistrate’s Court yesterday. James Howard, a labourer (aged 59}, was fined £2, iu default seven days’ imprisonment, for a fifth offence of drunkenness. Frederick Ellis, alias Johnston, alias Wilson, a labourer (aged 32j,\ was remanded to appear at Wauganui ou Saturday next ou a charge of having obtained £l5 from Leou Fromont by means of a valueless cheque. A remand for one week for the purpose of medical observation was granted iu the case of Charles Samuel Rawson (aged 32), who was charged with behaving in a threatening manner in Riutoul Street
