Whilst, seeking to gain belter» service lor its members, tbo policy o[ i 6 guild .was also to equip its members as efficient bank officers, and also to provide for thin increasing benefits through its various operations. During tbo year .bank OHicers Guild Tuvestment Soeietv mid been established, and was meeting with, most gratifying success. Tbo latest activity of the guild promised to bceorao a large organisation, and of considerable value io guild members. Tho Bank Officers’ Guild Beneticout Society was proving.a considerable boon in providing benefits for those incapacitated through sickness or accident. Arrangements had been completed to give effect to tho request of the Public Service Association for admittance to the society. Tho educational activities of the guild, principally in regard , to the diploma in banking and the libraries were also Wtfcrred to' in tho annual report. If; was very gratifying to note that in tho last November university examinations over 209 bank officers satl'or various subjects of the diploma course, and nine completed the course for the diploma. This made 37 bank officers who had been presented with the diploma in banking. The. conference recognised with pleasure that the efforts of the guild to improve cordilions of service were meeting with access. Year by year the conditions -.ere being steadily improved, and the services made more attractive. There was, strong evidence that tho status of banking has been raised considerably in the Dominion since tho establishment of the guild, and this is being recognised by the public and the banks.
At the conference many remits dealing with maters: of interest to members were adopted, and at the close of the conference the delegates had interviews with their particular bank’s executive officers.
